Brubaker and Phillips’ newest hit series, The Fade Out, is an epic noir set in the world of noir itself, the backlots and bars of Hollywood at the end of its Golden Era. A movie stuck in endless reshoots, a writer damaged from the war and lost in the bottle, a dead movie star and the lookalike hired to replace her. Nothing is what it seems in the place where only lies are true. The Fade Out is Brubaker and Phillips’ most ambitious project yet!

I took a very long break from graphic novels/comics and I’m pretty annoyed I did so because diving into this was so awesome and great and I’m mad that I stopped reading this format of literature because it’s so fun to read these and I love the artwork and it’s just all around great.

This graphic novel was something new and exciting and a great idea. It was something so unique and I loved the whole figure out who committed the crime aspect as well as the very heavy noir setting. I loved reading it! It made me feel like a 40’s/50’s detective.

I loved the slight twist at the end. I can’t re-iterate how much I love the atmosphere of the hollywood noir feel. Also, I love love love the artwork. I’ve seen some people didn’t enjoy the artwork but I do like it! I can’t wait to pick up the next installment.
