Top 5 Wednesday : Characters You’d Invite to Your NYE Party

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube. And this week’s topic is Characters You’d Invite to Your New Year’s Eve Party. This is a super fun topic and one I had quite the bit of trouble narrowing down to five. But all in all I think I really do enjoy the people I’d want to spend New Year’s Eve with me.

1. Fred & George Weasley from Harry Potter
Known for all their mischief and constantly looking for fun, I think this dynamic duo would be a great way to end the year off with a bang.

2. Kenzie from Shatter Me
Oh my goodness, I think Kenzie would be such a snarky and awesome person to ring in the new year with.

3. Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles
I feel like my whole party is just going to be a bunch of snarky, trouble seeking miscreants but…I kind of don’t care. I love Scarlet and she’s someone I’d love to hang out with if I got the chance.

4. Nina and Jesper from Six of Crows
Do I even need to explain this? They seem to be the only two characters in that duology who actually wanted to and enjoyed having fun.

5. Aelin Galathynius from Throne of Glass series
She seems like a bad ass bitch who knows when and how to have a good time.

And that’s all I got for this week! Let me know who you’d like to ring in the new year with and if you think my list is sufficient enough.

Top 5 Wednesday : Favorite Villains

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube. And this week’s topic is Favorite Villains. Although we all hate them, there are a few that are our favorites that we just never forget about.

1. Queen Levana
11235712I think Levana was one of THE WORST and most sadistic villain I’ve ever read about. She’s always been pure evil throughout the whole Cinder series and I don’t think she ever had a redeeming moment within the whole series. She’s….well…she’s a bitch.

2.The Darkling
He’s so swoon worthy though….a bit messed up, but GAH, I swoon whenever he speaks.

3. Maeve
28260587You may be thinking…well she’s not that bad…IF YOU HAVEN’T READ EMPIRE OF STORMS YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW MESSED UP THIS WOMAN IS. Ugh I hate her. She’s THE WORST. I want to say almost a tie with Levana for the most vengeful, sadistic person ever.

4. Dorothy 18053060She’s so awful, just the way she acts like she knows everything and rules over everything an is such a jerk I can’t stand her!

5. He Who Must Not Be Named

Top 5 Books That Lived Up to the Hype | 2016

I’m always very hesitant to read books that have a lot of hype around them. I hate being disappointed by books and I always find it really sad to not like a book that everyone else loves. I just want to fangirl with everyone else! Luckily, these five books lived up to the hype and have become new favorites of mine.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

I seen so many people say that this was their favorite book in the Throne of Glass series and how Heir of Fire was their favorite book that they’ve ever read. While I do really enjoy this series, I don’t think I’d call myself a die hard fan like many other people. I feel like I’m much more of a casual fan of this series so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started Heir of Fire. But HoF ended up being my current favorite in the series and it definitely lived up to the hype for me.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

There was so much hype around this book before it even released and even though I got caught up in the hype and I started it with really high hopes, Nevernight is one of my favorites of 2016.

Slammed by Colleen Hoover

I’d seen so many people say Slammed is one of Colleen’s best and I have yet to read a CoHo book that I didn’t love, I’m always expecting my next book of her’s to let me down. But Slammed was such an incredible read and I loved every second of it.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

So many people (and all of my friends who’ve read it) have said that The Bone Season is one of the best books that they’ve read. I’ve seen it compared to the Harry Potter series a lot and I was extremely reluctant to read it. I finally read it this summer and I have to agree with the hype. The Bone Season was amazing and I can’t wait to pick up the sequel.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

I think this might be the most hyped book of 2016. I’ve seen nothing but love for this book and there was extreme hype. The reviews, the fanart, the fanfic, so. much. hype. But even with all the hype, I wasn’t sure what to expect from A Court of Mist and Fury. But ACOMAF was incredible and worth all the hype. I loved it even more than the first book and I’m so excited for book three.

What are some books that lived up to the hype for you?

Top Five Wednesday | Books You Want To See as TV Shows

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube. And this week’s topic is books you want to see as TV Shows. I often have this thought cross through my mind as I read books, so here are my top five books!

129546201. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
It’s super Game of Thrones-y and I would love to see this as a TV show though, even though it could seem as more of a YA GoT I think it’d be cool to see it .

2. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
A mix between Time Travel and Parallel Universes this book would be amazing if it got picked up for TV.

3. Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
GAH Oh my goodness the moment I read this book I knew the whole series would be PHENOMENAL for TV. Super villains taking over the world and a group of tech savvy, people in search for revenge and to get rid of the super villains?! Like come on…how could you not. And the end of the first book is a great cliff hanger so it’d be an awesome season finale.

4. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
The characters from this would be so amazing to see on TV as well as the magic system and just all the events that happen…how this hasn’t been picked up yet I don’t understand. SOMEONE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

5. The Young Elites by Marie Lu
I would love to see this world and these characters come to life. Marie Lu’s Young Elites is one of my favorites and I think it would translate really great into that dark and gritty TV show.

Books I Will Never Read | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

I don’t like saying that I will never ever read these books but I’m 99.9% sure I won’t read them.

If you’ve read these books and liked them, that’s perfectly fine. I don’t mean to offend anyone or anything like that. This is all just my personal opinion.

5) Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James

I read the first book in this series years ago and I really didn’t like it at all. I could barely even finish it and I don’t have any plans to ever read book two or three.

4) Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren

The same with the Fifty Shades of Gray series. I read the first book in this series last year and I didn’t like it at all. I’d heard a lot of good things about this series and it was recommended to me by someone who said if I liked Colleen Hoover’s books (which I do), I would like this series. Unfortunately, I had to force myself to finish Beautiful Bastard and I have no plans to ever read Beautiful Stranger.

3) Phantom (The Vampire Diaries)
by L.J. Smith

I read a lot of The Vampire Diaries books when I first started reading YA and I really enjoyed them. However, I didn’t like the last two of the books I read from the series and I can’t see myself ever reading another Vampire Diaries book.

2) Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

This is an interesting one. I own all the books in this series but I’ve had them for years and I don’t think I’ll read them. I’m not 100% that I won’t ever read them but I really just don’t think I will.

1) After We Collided by Anna Todd

I read After last year and I really hated it. A friend had recommended it to me because she really loved it but I just… I don’t like to say that I hate something often but I truly hated After. Which is too bad because I love the covers of this series. But I will never read After We Collided or any of the other books in this series.

What are some books that you will never read?

Rainy Day Reads | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

I’m a big fan of contemporaries for rainy days, especially contemporaries that can be read in one sitting. So here are my top five rainy day contemporaries.

5.Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This is such an outstanding book. With complex characters and a beautifully written story line, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s very thought provoking and keep me glued to each page.

4.To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

It’s hard for me to put my intense love for this book into coherent thoughts. I was so emotionally invested in this story and the characters. I couldn’t put this book down and I finished it in less than two days.

3.All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

This book is beautiful and heartfelt. All the Bright Places has really stood out for me and it’d be a perfect rainy day read.

2.Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I love this book. It was so surprisingly amazing. The writing is perfect and the characters are wonderful. I read this in one afternoon and I couldn’t put it down.

1.Hey Sunshine by Tia Giacalone

I loved this book so, so much. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to reread it. I loved the plot and the characters. The writing was amazing. I could gush about this book forever.

Books That Feature Time Travel | Top Five Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

This week is probably one of my favorite topic weeks for Top 4 Wednesday…EVER! It’s the topic of time travel, and it’s one of my favorite things to read about. I must say I haven’t read a lot of time travel books, BUT I can list the ones I have and then the ones I would like to read. Here we go!

1. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
I talk about this book A LOT. And this book has it all. Romance, Time Travel, Parallel Universes, Action, Humor. I read this book at the beginning of my book blogging and reading journey and I have yet to stop loving this book.

2. Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Not your typical time travel book but still enjoyable! I liked the way Rowell used the phone as the source of time travel and a rotary phone at that. An all around quick and enjoyable read.

3. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken *WANT TO READ*

4. Timebound by Rysa Walker *WANT TO READ*

5. Doon by Carey Corp *WANT TO READ*

Please let me know if you’ve read any of the last three books and what you did and didn’t like about the time travel aspects of this book. I love the idea of time travel and most definitely need to read more books that feature time travel.

Worst Love Interests | Top Five Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

It’s that time again, the lovely top five Wednesday, a bit of a different turn from the easier chosen 5, BUT all in all I feel like I’ve chosen a good 5 for this week’s topic of Worst Love Interests.

1. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games Trilogy
Don’t get me wrong I love the series (with the exception of Mockingjay, I seriously cannot get over that book, in a bad way). There was great character development in certain places and I think it was one of the first dystopian books I got a chance of reading. But through reading this series I thought Katniss was the worst love interest possible! Always flip flopping and basically “loving” Peeta while always still lingering for Gale. I couldn’t stand it!

2.  Alaska Young from Looking for Alaska
I couldn’t stand the way Alaska treated Miles. It just was something that completely infuriated me throughout the whole damn book.

3. Patrick from Me Before You
Okay, So I just read Me Without You and clearly that’s why I’m using this book. But Patrick was SUCH A JERK! Like honestly, your girlfriend is going through a lot of crap and you sit there and all you give a hoot about it and just focus on stupid stuff that doesn’t matter. He was such a selfish prick I couldn’t handle it.

4. Susan Rodriguez from The Dresden Files
There’s something about Rodriguez I can’t stand. I ship Dresden with someone else entirely and I hate how she just basically just THROWS herself in danger when it’s SUPER obvious. And then she tries to act like this woman who’s super smart, independent, and can take care of herself, but in the end always gets into a mess that Harry has to help her out of. I can’t stand her.

5. Paul Markov from A Thousand Pieces of You
I can’t even begin with this one…this pissed me off so much, he’s scumbag and it makes me mad. And I mean there’s various factors that happen in this book that make him not so bad but there’s always that twang of anger whenever I read his name… BOO PAUL!

Best Recommended Books You Loved |Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

Hey everyone! This week’s topic for Top 5 Wednesday is top recommend book that you loved.

*in no particular order*

5.The Rose Society by Marie Lu

One of my best friends, Nani, is obsessed with this series. And while I did read the first book, The Young Elites, before I met Nani, it was her endless babble that spurred me to read The Rose Society as soon as I bought a copy.

4.Throne of Glass by Sarah J Mass

My sister, Taryn, recommended this book to me and she has an incredible taste in books so I knew it must be great. And it is.

3.Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick

Stephanie actually recommended this book for one of her Recommendation Fridays some time last year. I read it shortly after and it’s such an amazing book.

2.Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

This book was recommended to me by my good friend Batool earlier this week. I finished it today and I loved it so much.

1.Shattering Glass by Gail Giles

This was recommend to me by my best friend, Logan. She told me that I had to read it so I ordered it from Amazon and read the whole book the same day it came in the mail.

Favorite Self Published Books | Top Five Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Lainey at gingerreadslainey on YouTube.

This week’s topic is favorite self published books, I haven’t read any that I know of, but these books are five self published books I’d like to read. I used this list to pick out the 5 self titled books I’d like to read.

Angelfall by Susan Ee
I’ve heard so much hype around this series and how great it is. I had absolute no clue that this was a self published book.

If I Stay by Gale Foreman
I wanted to read this before watching the movie but I couldn’t resist watching it, but it makes me want to read the book even more!

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
I really want to read this book, I’ve tried once but couldn’t get into it, but I REALLY want to try and get this book read. I’ve never read a dragon based book before and it intrigues me so much!

The Body Electric by Beth Revis
I bought this book on e-book. And it’s one of my goals this year to read all the e-books I own as of right now and this beautiful looking book is among one of them!

The Final Empire (Mistborn) by Brandon Sanderson
So I’m absolutely blown away that this was self published. Brandon Sanderson is a writing machine. I’ve read Steelheart and it’s absolutely amazing that I cannot wait to begin the Mistborn series. And the fact that this was self published makes me appreciate it even more.
