Top 5 Books That Lived Up to the Hype | 2016
I’m always very hesitant to read books that have a lot of hype around them. I hate being disappointed by books and I always find it really sad to not like a book that everyone else loves. I just want to fangirl with everyone else! Luckily, these five books lived up to the hype and have become new favorites of mine.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
I seen so many people say that this was their favorite book in the Throne of Glass series and how Heir of Fire was their favorite book that they’ve ever read. While I do really enjoy this series, I don’t think I’d call myself a die hard fan like many other people. I feel like I’m much more of a casual fan of this series so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started Heir of Fire. But HoF ended up being my current favorite in the series and it definitely lived up to the hype for me.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
There was so much hype around this book before it even released and even though I got caught up in the hype and I started it with really high hopes, Nevernight is one of my favorites of 2016.
Slammed by Colleen Hoover
I’d seen so many people say Slammed is one of Colleen’s best and I have yet to read a CoHo book that I didn’t love, I’m always expecting my next book of her’s to let me down. But Slammed was such an incredible read and I loved every second of it.
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
So many people (and all of my friends who’ve read it) have said that The Bone Season is one of the best books that they’ve read. I’ve seen it compared to the Harry Potter series a lot and I was extremely reluctant to read it. I finally read it this summer and I have to agree with the hype. The Bone Season was amazing and I can’t wait to pick up the sequel.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
I think this might be the most hyped book of 2016. I’ve seen nothing but love for this book and there was extreme hype. The reviews, the fanart, the fanfic, so. much. hype. But even with all the hype, I wasn’t sure what to expect from A Court of Mist and Fury. But ACOMAF was incredible and worth all the hype. I loved it even more than the first book and I’m so excited for book three.
