City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Published: September 1st, 2015
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. And she’s more than a little startled when the body disappears into thin air. Soon Clary is introduced to the world of the Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world and back to their own. And Clary is introduced with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque monster. How could a mere human survive such an attack and kill a demon? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
Can I just start off with WHY HAS NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS SERIES AND HOW MUCH I SHOULD’VE READ THIS LIKE YEARS AGO! WHY HAS NO ONE SLAPPED THIS SENSE INTO ME TO READ THIS SERIES!? LIKE HONESTLY! I’M MAD AT MYSELF FOR NEVER PICKING THIS SERIES UP. I LITERALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK IN LIKE 2 DAYS.
I just have to say this world, system, this whole thing was so well thought out, and the fact that you can tell by book one is absolutely astounding and makes me do a little happy dance. I am literally writing in stream of consciousness right now so please forgive me.
First of all, Magnus and Alec. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM I SHIP IT ON A ROCKETSHIP TO THE FREAKING MOON AND BACK. If something doesn’t become of that I will not be satisfied, and I will write a very strong worded letter to Cassandra Clare about how she has to write a whole book about Magnus and Alec being in love and just amazing together.
I loved this whole book, the characters, I don’t think I found one character (other than Valentine) that I didn’t like. I think I can tell right away that there’s going to be a lot of character development and I can already feel my heart potentially breaking, I just don’t know for who yet. Which is weird but at the same time, I totally understand why because well, there’s 5 more books I do believe to get through.
I like how there’s a lot of different lore. The whole Angel, Demons, Vampires, Werewolves, and Warlocks. And I hope it keeps up because I love books that.
I love how all the characters are so different but have ties that link them all together. It’s amazing and I love that. I feel like I keep saying the stuff over and over but I literally cannot say a bad word about this book.
This book was action packed and oh my goodness the plot twists, I thought there was just one big one but MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE PLOT TWISTS. I was literally texting people freaking out about this book. I’m pretty sure my fiancé was over it when I just unloaded this whole book plot to him. But I couldn’t help it!
So way to go Cassanda Clare, you’ve got me hooked. I’m already a ways through the 2nd book. And on Episode 4 of the Shadowhunters Series (not too impressed but oh well).

8 years agoYeah! I know there’s like The Mortal Instruments series, then there’s the Infernal Defices and isn’t there the Bane Chronicles? And Lady Midnight just came out… I’m really late to the whole show but I’m still enjoying it a lot.

8 years agoI think you might have gotten the publish date wrong. XD I don’t think it was published just last year. Maybe that edition but definitely not the series. :)
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I really like the series and I’ve been meaning to read The Infernal Devices before I even start reading Lady Midnight!

8 years agoYes The Bane Chronicles, but you can read those whenever. There are some references throughout both TMI and TID but you can just read the stories in between books whenever you feel like getting to know Magnus better
