Book Of The Month Giveaway Read Along

October Book of the Month!

Book-of-The-Month

Taylor and I are more than happy to announce that we will be doing an October book of the month and yes, it will be a creepy/scary one! We’ve done a lot of research to try and find the perfect book, a newer release and something really to fit into the Halloween theme of October that we all love so much!

Published: August 6, 2015

Part-psychological thriller, part-urban legend, this is an unsettling narrative made up of diary entries, interview transcripts, film footage transcripts and medical notes. Twenty-five years ago, Elmbridge High burned down. Three people were killed and one pupil, Carly Johnson, disappeared. Now a diary has been found in the ruins of the school. The diary belongs to Kaitlyn Johnson, Carly’s identical twin sister. But Carly didn’t have a twin . . .

Re-opened police records, psychiatric reports, transcripts of video footage and fragments of diary reveal a web of deceit and intrigue, violence and murder, raising a whole lot more questions than it answers.

Who was Kaitlyn and why did she only appear at night? Did she really exist or was she a figment of a disturbed mind? What were the illicit rituals taking place at the school? And just what did happen at Elmbridge in the events leading up to ‘the Johnson Incident’?

Chilling, creepy and utterly compelling, THE DEAD HOUSE is one of those very special books that finds all the dark places in your imagination, and haunts you long after you’ve finished reading.

So, we will be doing this a bit differently than last time. We’re still trying to figure out what works for you guys and what doesn’t to make it easier and more optimal for your reading liking and needs.

Taylor and I will be making a weekly schedule so we can read this beauty. Week 1 will be Chapters 1 – Whatever and so on and so forth. Just so we’re all on the same page because at the end of the week we’ll discuss those chapters in an open forum (again on our page on GoodReads). If it sounds confusing, it will be easier to explain while we get the ball rolling.

Annnnnd. Drumroll please:

Published:  May 26,2015

In a fantastical kingdom ravaged by famine and poverty, the prospect of hope lies with a mythical masked hero in this, the first book in the Tales of the Kingdom series from Newbery Medalist Cynthia Voigt.

In a distant time, a kingdom is starving. With winter upon them, there is little hope, except for the legend of Jackaroo: a masked outlaw who comes at night to aid the destitute and helpless. But Gwyn, the innkeeper’s daughter, is too practical for false hopes. She believes Jackaroo is nothing more than a fairy tale told to keep children hopeful till the next sunrise.

Then Gwyn is forced to seek refuge in an abandoned house, and while scavenging for supplies, she comes across…a mask? A sword? A cloak? Could these belong to the fabled Jackaroo? As Gwyn searches for answers, she discovers that the heart of a hero goes far beyond a mask.

Previously published as Jackaroo, this classic tale features a new look and a new title.

Unfortunately I will not be joining in on this one! I am too much of a paranoid little bookworm to be able to stomach a creepy novel! I hope you have fun with this one!
