Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

Published: April 8, 2014

“Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper’s destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a Paladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.

Just when life can’t get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she’s charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper’s least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him—and discovers that David’s own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.

With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y’all beg for more.”

Okay so let me just say WOW! I never thought I’d actually like this book, it was so out of my own little element that I thought I’d never think to pick it up. But I heard tons of people raving about it and I just had to try it out. And I was thoroughly impressed by Rachel Hawkins and how she kept me reading and engaged throughout the whole book!

Although I didn’t connect with any of the characters or anything like that, I appreciated how funny and quick and light this book was. I just flew right through it! I didn’t like Harper that much but it didn’t stop me from reading which I believe is the sign of a good read! I can’t say it was the best written book ever, or there was a great plot or an amazing or super awesome anything, but it was nice just to get my hands on something that made me read fast and made me want to keep going with the story! This book had a lot of potential to go somewhere great, but maybe Miss Mayhem will go there?

Anyway, Rebel Belle rating:
