Recommendation Friday #6
Hey everyone here’s a recommendation Friday for everyone! I totally forgot to post last week (I hope none of you noticed) but, hopefully this recommendation is good enough for all of you to forgive me for that.
So, Here’s Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean At The End Of The Lane . I HIGHLY recommend this book. Neil Gaiman is a genius writer. There hasn’t been anywhere Neil Gaiman has gone wrong in any book and The Ocean At The End Of The Lane is just that. I was wishing so badly that this book was a lot longer than it was because it was just pure perfection. It was very whimsical but kind of dark and magical. It’s absolutely beautiful and haunting. That’s the best way to put it. It’s kind of like, you’re reading a dream in a way. That’s the best way to explain it. It’s about a man who comes home to Essex after someone dies, and his house is no longer there but the house of a girl named Lettie who he knew as a child still stands. And he doesn’t really think about his childhood much or even Lettie anymore either. And he sits by the pond which Lottie used to call the Ocean and remembers his childhood and the story of him and Lottie.
It’s an absolutely gorgeous book inside and out. I read this book in one or two sittings and I just was begging for more. It’s a strange story with amazing imagery and just all around a great story that just lingers and keeps you thinking after it’s done.
