RECOMMENDATION FRIDAY #3

rec fridayHi everyone! Taylor here with our third Recommendation Friday! This week I’m recommending one of my favorite books of all time, The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross.

The Girl in the Steel CorsetThe Girl in the Steel Corset takes place in 1897 England and is about a girl named Finley Jayne who has lost her family and has no friends. All she has is the “thing” inside her. One night when a boy tries to  take advantage of her, Finley fights back and realizes that the “thing” inside her is much stronger than she ever thought. She soon meets Griffin King, who sees the darkness inside her and says that it makes her special and he knows other people like her. Griffin takes Finley to meet his band of misfits and a whole new world opens up to Finley. Finley struggles to find her place in the world and to keep control of the growing darkness inside her.

I read The Girl in the Steel Corset in 2011, when it was first released, and I’m still in love with it. The characters are so interesting and complex. All the female characters are extremely well written and kick all kinds of butt. The plot is fast paced and very original. There’s four books in the series and each book get better and better.  I’ll be rereading The Girl in the Steel Corset in the very near future. I highly recommend this book to everyone expressly if you like fast paced, exciting plots and compelling characters.

I think I was compelled to get this book when I sat in on a panel that had Kady Cross in it. She was super cool and I was all “STEAMPUNK YA OMGAH WANT”. So yeah, it was a good book!

That’s awesome that you went to a panel with her!

I have this whole series and look forward to reading them. I have always been intersected in this genre but have only read one book in the genre.
